We’re proud to welcome Pheeyownah to the family! Labrador will release her first non self-released EP ”zero9zero9” on June 10 on digital and 12” vinyl.
28 year old Feyona Naluzzi (which is her real name) work under strict DIY principles. She’s a producer, song writer, multi instrumentalist and she released her two first EPs
on her on label. At her home studio she makes smokey r’nb
that some say sound like a mix between Burial, Sade, early Weeknd and Twin Peaks.
From Uganda to Sweden
Feyona Naluzzi was born in southern Stockholm after her parents moved from Uganda to Sweden in the 80s. As a young kid Pheeyownah sang gospel and soon discovered she wanted to be an artist.
She’s been artistically active since 2003. As a member of the dance crew JUCK (named after the Swedish word for a grinding hip movement) she tries to provoke by moving on stage in ways unconventional for a woman. She’s also been offered to do solo one-woman-show, and accepted. The solo act SUUBI will be shown at the dance festival Urban Connectio.
– I use my own music because my songs are based on personal experiences, anything else would feel strange to feature in the show, Pheeyownah explained to Swedish magazine The Forumist.
Along with her urge to express herself through dance she’s always written poetry and song lyrics. She started focusing on music in 2010 and released her debut single ”Strugglin’” in 2012.
No compromises
Pheeyownah is currently working on her debut album. ”Vivid, Fearless”, lead track of ”zero9zero9”, is her first release outside her own label.
– I’ve had proposals before but they’ve always wanted to control my sound and me. On Labrador I can do things my own way. (Pheeyownah)
